John Folchi

The Cloudscape series of paintings on canvas and paper by John Folchi is representative of the artist's interest in nature as a vehicle to evoke various moods and emotions. This inherently romantic attitude in painting we witnessed historically from Turner and Constable through to Rothko.  Folchi's work uses the sky with it's contrasts of light and dark, color, and form to create works of depth and mystery.  The artist desires an intimate viewer experience which explains the smaller scale of the series.

John is a New York based painter.  He has a BFA and MFA in painting from the City University of NY. His work has been exhibited extensively in NYC and the surrounding Eastern states and is in numerous private and Corporate collections including Fedelity, Pfizer, and the Dept. of State. He is currently represented by the Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art in Charlotte, NC.
