Amy Yao

Amy Yao obtained an MFA in sculpture from Yale University in 2007 and lives in New York. Her works cycle through a set of materials and motifs that include slim slats of wood, Plexiglas, ripped newsprint, and horsehair, to name a few. Empty space and transparent layers encourage the viewer to examine the works from a variety of angles. The resulting installations read like anagrams, strings of elements that shift relative to each other.
