Ellen von Unwerth

German fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth started her career as a model at the age of 20. After ten years, von Unwerth decided to move to the other side of the camera lens where she felt she had more freedom and control. Since then, she has photographed some of the most influential musicians, actors, and models of the twenty-first century. In 1998, she was listed as one of the Most Important People in Photography by American Photo Magazine. Von Unwerth's photographs are known for their playfullness and sensuality, influenced by her former experience as a model, making her photographs less static and more natural.

Von Unwerth's fashion work is published regularly in American, Italian, and British Vogue, Interview and Vanity Fair. Her books include Snaps, Wicked, and Couples.
