Natalia Ibáñez Lario

Natalia Ibáñez Lario’s work appropriates contemporary identity-making tools in order to highlight the acceleration of visual culture and its concomitant effects on human psychology and physical form. Swaths of paraben-free gels, skin-whitening creams, anti-wrinkle serums, and other cosmetic technologies create lush abstract compositions in her scanner paintings, while her own body becomes a conduit for trending Instagram hashtags made form in her sculptural resin works. Freed from their original contexts, Natalia's works become an illusory last line of defense against biological decay, genetic pre-disposition, and economic realities.

Ibáñez Lario has exhibited throughout Europe, Latin America, and the United States with solo exhibitions at Museo El Eco in Mexico City, Mexico and Museo Pablo Serrano in Zaragoza, Spain, among many others. She has participated in group exhibitions includes Museo de Arte Carrilo Gil in Mexico City, Mexico and Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France.
