About The Work

This portfolio of two lithographs and one screen-print by Blinky Palermo were created for an exhibition at the Hamburg Kunstverein in 1973, which sparked immense criticism. In the exhibition space, Palermo painted the bearing walls oxblood red, leaving only one white, on which he rendered a simple linear layout for the space. By creating the space as a reflection of itself, Palermo abstracted the character of the exhibition. This spatial tension is captured in Mappe zur Wandmalerei, which incorporates the same oxblood color and simple architectural icon.
