    About The Work

The photographic experiments of artist Brian Buckley abandon traditional methods of camera-based image making, focusing instead on the light, chemistry and sensitive films. Says Buckley of his process, “Going without camera to make these images, I work in complete darkness with unexposed film and chemistry. Working slowly, I place each object on the film’s surface, exposing it to modified light. The physical interaction between the subject and the film’s surface often leaves marks that add dimension to the work.”
