About The Work

Known as one of the most prominent contemporary French artists, Christian Boltanski questions the frontier between absence and presence. His works have a strong emotional power because they appeal to the small memory, called the emotional memory. Referring to the mythic scene where Rita and Betty meet in the Silencio’s club in Mulholland Drive, No hay banda is a little shadows theatre which reveals the Spanish dancer’s presence.
