About The Work

In this work, Jim Lambie ‘flips’ a flip-flop, an iconic, if underappreciated, piece of design, transforming it into a functional table. Lambie’s over-sized flip-flop is made of painted fiberglass and polished stainless steel rather than foam, endowing it with the glittering brilliance for which the artist is known. This piece was produced in collaboration with Cumulus Studios, founded by landscape designer and gallerist Nathalie Karg to produce functional outdoor objects with established and emerging contemporary artists.
