The subject of John Folchi’s current painting series is the urban and industrial environment. Within this environment he choose objects of industrial utilization, which have little, if any, aesthetic value. The goal is to transform these objects, which have often undergone drastic changes due to corrosion, use, and decay, into paintings that emphasize my interest in color, texture, form, and design.
Folchi has exhibited his work in a number of group exhibitions since 1979 including Terrain Gallery, Soho, New York, Brian Morris Gallery, Lower East Side, Greenpoint Gallery, Brooklyn, Friday Studio Gallery, Bushwick, and Spectrum Gallery, Centerbrook, CT, among others.
