    About The Work

Reflecting McElheny's interest in exploring the concept of infinity, this series of ten photogravures feature pictures of mouth-blown plates, set against a black backdrop. The clarity of the glass evokes a specialized type of glass developed in Venice during the Renaissance, at a time when astronomers and philosophers were debating whether the universe had a past that was infinite or finite.
