About The Work
A bright yellow, oval-shaped centerpiece in flanked on either side by similarly shaped pieces that increase in size as they reach out from the center. As the pieces get larger, they also become more orange and finally brown, digressing from the yellow centerpiece in steady increments.
This work is inspired by the relationship between painting and sculpture, forged from an interest in childlike materials and sensibilities. Vibrant and geometric, Kayla’s work presents a striking balance between pattern, contrast and depth, allowing the work to foster a relationship within the space it occupies. This large work presents itself almost as a ripple, using color, shape and lighting, Kayla is able to create a work that seems to float off the wall entering the viewers space.
