    About The Work

This limited edition, hand signed and inscribed lithograph entitled South Bend, was created on the occasion of the South Bend Indiana Art Center's (South Bend Regional Museum of Art) inaugural exhibition on January 14, 1978, celebrating their move to Century Center in downtown South Bend. It is a rare signed and inscribed Artist's Proof, aside from the regular edition of 150. Indiana applied his singularly bold graphic style to this emblematic map of South Bend. This print is, exceptionally, hand signed and dated on the lower right recto by Robert Indiana. It is also inscribed "For Walter and Dawn", lower left recto. Walter was the renowned, Chicago architect Walter Netsch and his wife Dawn was the Democratic Senator and liberal politician Dawn Clark Netsch, both good friends and collectors of Robert Indiana. Very rare and desirable when hand signed and inscribed by the artist - especially with such special provenance. This work is held in the original vintage frame with gallery label to preserve provenance and ships framed.
