Sarah Tibault’s paintings are quiet and intimate yet they have a strong emotional impact. Influenced by her visual surroundings, many focus on loneliness, insomnia, and social media. She uses beauty and humor to approach complex topics such as addiction to screens, alienation, and identity. When discussing her show Starfish, which includes five large-scale paintings that have soothing pink/orange tones inspired by the light of salt lamps, she refers to the title as being “when you’re alone in bed and you spread out your arms and legs each limb acting as a point of the star.”
