    About The Work

This unique silver gelatin print is part of a series entitled My Own Private Angkor which documents haunting interiors from an abandoned housing estate in Port Dickson, Malaysia, where thieves removed aluminum frames from windows and left glass panes poised against the bare walls. The long shadows, and simple composition of this work reveals Simryn Gill’s interest in space, pointing to the separation between public and private, in what constitutes the domestic, and the life of a place over time.
