About The Work
In Untitled, Tony Oursler intermixes several swaths of color with collaged elements that include skulls, crouching human forms and stray body parts. Oursler is interested in the fragmentation of both the human body and psyche and is fascinated with how psychological conditions like Multiple Personality Disorder can be translated into a physical reality. Using fragmented images, a clashing color palette and oddly juxtaposed icons, Oursler evokes the chaos of psychological distress as a visual abstraction.
