    About The Work

Trenton Doyle Hancock executed this captivating print during a 2010 residency at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. It belongs to a portfolio of six prints, and like its sister works, Life Understanding is of note due to the artist’s thoughtful layering of processes and concepts. Here, Hancock not only combines serigraphy and lithography, but he also offers a quirky play on words—the imagery and title together conjure a world of creatures and experiences below or “under” our “standing” reality.
