Alex Dodge

Alex Dodge (born November 28, 1977) is an American artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. His work has long explored the relationship between technology and human experience, perspicacity, and values. His imagery is generated in 3D-rendering programs and applied to canvas with thick oil paint, locating the pieces somewhere between new media and more traditional fare. Over the past few years, the subjects of Dodge’s work has ranged from the front of the New York Times to dollar bills to the American flag. Originally sourced from quick ink drawings, his pieces fuse digital space with felt, analog tactility, asking questions about authenticity and lived synthesis.

Dodge’s work is included in many important public collections, including The Whitney Museum of American Art, NY, MoMA, NY, The New York Public Library, NY, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. He is represented by Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he later attended NYU’s ITP program from 2010 to 2012. His work has been reviewed in Artforum, Artnews, Hyperallergic, and Even Magazine among other publications.
