Chris Bradley

Like many Pop-influenced artists before him, Chicago-based sculptor Chris Bradley finds cultural and aesthetic significance in the everyday, incorporating paint canisters, pizza boxes and discarded home improvement tools into his highly material process. Many of his significant objects appear like trompe l’oeil, crafted by hand to reflect the fine details of the real inspiration—his Ice Bag sculptures, for instance, contain individual glass ice cubes. Profoundly interested in the histories and representational symbolism of his mundane objects, Bradley bestows his own artistic mojo on each novelty key chain and abandoned banana peel.

Bradley has exhibited his sculptures in solo shows at Shane Campbell Gallery, Chicago, Roberto Paradise, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Contemporary Art Museum, Raleigh, North Carolina, and HungryMan Gallery, Chicago. Group exhibitions include Brand New Gallery, Milano, Italy, Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, Santa, Barbara, CA, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Atlanta, Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, and Marlborough Broome Street, New York, among others.
