    About The Work

Issue 14 of THE THING is by actor, writer, filmmaker, and visual artist James Franco. The work consists of a wallet-sized photograph of deceased actor Brad Renfro, a small mirror on which Franco has written "Brad Forever" in lipstick, and a poster that shows Franco getting the word "BRAD" carved in his arm by tattooer Mark Mahoney. The carving is a tribute to Renfro, Franco's Deuces Wild co-star, and it was filmed and included in Franco's video and installation project at the Venice Biennale.
