Jeanette Pasin Sloan's paintings draw on the history of the still-life format, creating elaborate setups of such domestic materials as coffee mugs, wine glasses, and silverware, against boldly patterned backgrounds. Through an exacting working process that involves arranging objects, photographing them numerous times, and then painting detailed, photorealistic depictions of the tableaux, Pasin Sloan playfully approaches a traditional genre from a contemporary perspective.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States in exhibitions at the Santa Fe Art Institute, the Wichita Falls Museum and Art Center in Texas, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Portland Art Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the National Museum of American Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Art, among other venues.
