Lina Bertucci Bio

About The Artist

Lina Bertucci is a visual artist working in photography, video, and film known for her provocative portraits that investigate identity and sexual politics. Bertucci's iconic artist portraits from the early nineties captured art stars like Kiki Smith, Jeff Koons, Maurizio Cattelan, Mathew Barney, and Elizabeth Peyton in their youth. For her Women in the Tattoo Subculture series, Bertucci traveled to tattoo conventions across America, portraying women of different ages and walks of life who use their bodies as canvases for self-expression. While Bertucci's subjects assume the statuesque poses of classical portraiture, her portraits celebrate alternative ideals of beauty. Bertucci is represented by the Perry Rubenstein Gallery in New York, Rhona Hoffman Gallery in Chicago, and Eleni Koroneau Galley in Athens. She is collected widely in the United States and Europe.
