Matt Maust

After studying painting and design, Matt Maust worked as T-Shirt designer and musician producing hundreds of drawings, collages, paintings, and photographs that would serve as the aesthetic foundation and brand direction of his paying clients—soon becoming a favorite of young designers and L.A. bands. An avid collector of vintage advertising, menus, postcards and photographs, Maust re-interprets, re-configures or re-constructs these images and texts in his own design. In the oeuvre of Joseph Beuys or Dieter Roth Maust’s obsessive creative energy has resulted in innumerable artist’s books, editions, paintings, collages, sculptures, videos, and endless drawings and photographs—many critiquing, commenting, or acknowledging contemporary culture.

Maust has participated in a number of exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles including M23, New York, Paul Loya Gallery, Los Angeles, and DDR Projects, Los Angles.
