Panni Malekzadeh saturates Feelings with colorful, playful, feminine tones, inserting symbols of young, innocent girlish imagery. Malekzadeh takes the sexual implications of a neon sign and transforms it into soft, rainbow letters depicting the word “FEELINGS” attached to a floral print wall. Instead of an advertisement for women’s bodies and sexuality, “FEELINGS” gives this composition a feminine agency and humanness.

Panni Malekzadeh saturates her canvases with tones of pinks and yellows, portraying an intimate feminine experience. However, juxtaposed against fairy tale fantasies of princesses and mythical creatures are glaring neon signs appropriated from the sex industry. Malekzadeh creates a complex visual narrative of the exploitation of women and the bittersweet realities of feminine sexuality and coming-of-age.
