About Aperture Foundation
Aperture, a not-for-profit foundation, connects the photo community and its audiences with the most inspiring work, the sharpest ideas, and with each other—in print, in person, and online.
Created in 1952 by photographers and writers as "common ground for the advancement of photography,†Aperture today is a multiplatform publisher and center for the photo community. From its base in New York, it produces, publishes, and presents a program of photography projects locally and internationally.
In 2012 Aperture proudly celebrates:
60 years of Aperture Magazine
650 photobooks published
280 limited-edition books and prints
150 exhibitions produced and traveled to 500 venues worldwide
Aperture's projects and programs are made possible by the support of its funders, patrons, sponsors, partners, and members, and by the many thousands of people who subscribe to its magazine, collect Aperture Limited Editions, and buy Aperture books.
