Otto Zoo
MilanOtto Zoo was founded by Francesca Guerrizio and Maurizio Azzali in 2008.
At the beginning the gallery program was mainly focused on Photography - a seminal show of American Photography masters Lillian Bassman and Paul Himmel was hosted in 2008 together with the first solo in Italy of Indian photographer Bharat Sikka.
Since then the gallery has proposed an experimental approach towards all the practices of the contemporary art world. The program focuses on young – middle career artists, both Italian and international.
The gallery develops projects outside the Milan space. Examples are O.Z., an exhibition project at Hotel Locarno in Roma (curated by Ilaria Gianni) in 2013 and 2014, which will continue through 2019; You are me, a Sebastiano Mauri’s installation at h+ in Milano in 2015; Lavinia, a T-yong Chung project at Fonderia Battaglia, Milano, sponsored by Tender Capital in 2017.
After Maurizio Azzali's passing two years ago, Francesca Guerrizio, with gallery director Annika Pettini, has started a program mainly based on site-specific shows at the gallery space.
