Mariah Robertson

Mysterious, experimental and ghostly, the photographs of American artist Mariah Robertson blur the line between intention and coincidence. Often the result of trial and error in chemical and exposure procedures—including solarizations and photograms—Robertson’s images are intensely multi-layered, often standing alone as three-dimensional works. While snippets of narrative and recognizable imagery can be found, Robertson’s work is primarily comprised of abstract forms—dripping, prismatic and shadowed.

Robertson has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions including the Museum of Modern Art, The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, UK, Greater New York, MoMA/PS1, Grand Arts, MO and The Saatchi Gallery, London.
