Martin Parr

British documentary photographer Martin Parr’s works are strange and garish, offering the artist’s unusual perspective. Leisure, consumption, and communication are themes that have recurred throughout the artist’s career, themes that have been explored during his worldwide travels. By juxtaposing specific images with universal ones, Parr sets up contradictions without necessarily resolving them, creating tensions within the works.

Parr has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1994. He has produced roughly 40 solo photobooks and is featured in roughly 80 exhibitions worldwide including the international touring exhibition ParrWorld and a retrospective at the Barbican Arts Center in London.
