    About The Work

Reminiscent of the work of Bernice Abbott, this series is the result of Geraghty's travels around New York and Detroit with a 4x5 camera to commemorate the enduring beauty of the elements of a city that remain from past eras. Each photograph portrays a part of the world that has been frozen in time. Auto Parts speaks of a place nearly decimated by the decline of an industry; The Corner Deli reveals a small, symbolic oasis in the crush of one of the world's busiest urban centers; and Grand Central captures a pastiche of architectural traditions. With an eye for classical composition, Geraghty's works capture the nostalgia, energy, and isolation of cities.
