    About The Work

Working with alternative and found materials such as roofing tin, old wood, water troughs, latex rubber, hair and straw, New Mexico-based artist Harmony Hammond addresses conversations of queer and feminist politics. Like many other icons of early feminist art making, Hammond’s post-minimalist works often take inspiration from craft processes, most notably braiding and rug making. This hand-painted woodcut with clay and acrylic, Farm Ghosts (State I), combines scrawled text and pictorial imagery.
