The work of Kate Steciw explores the symbiotic relationships between image, object and digital representation, guided by a series of logical and intuitive decisions. Following certain visual prompts, Steciw sources her imagery from the Internet, then assembles, layers and modifies each digital file into myriad unique arrangements. Transferring these infinite images into a printed, sculptural form, the artist transforms the formal and conceptual parameters of her material, both on a physical and ideological level, reimagining the shape, contour, space and weight of each image. Consciously obscuring and revealing each composition though Plexiglas, sculptural collage, and other physical elements, Steciw reveals clues as to the origins of each piece in her titles—often key search words or other textual markers. Reimagining the modern visual world, Steciw’s lively work enters a new frontier of conceptual space.

Steciw has exhibited her art extensively in New York, including solo exhibitions at Neumeister Bar-Am, Berlin, Higher Pictures, New York, Restrospective Gallery, Hudson, New York, Elaine Lévy Project, Brussles, Toomer Labzda Gallery, New York and group exhibitions at the International Center of Photography, New York, Hauser & Wirth, New York, and Johannes Vogt Gallery, New York. Her work has been featured in Artforum, Art in America, and Interview magazine.
