Latoya Ruby Frazier

LaToya Ruby Frazier earned her MFA in art photography from Syracuse University and is currently associate curator at the Civic Square Art Gallery, Rutgers University, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Her six-year project The Notion of Family: Family Work (2002-08) uses black and white photography and video to document and explore the African-American family experience. She uses her own family as her subject, focusing on relationships between herself, her mother, and her grandmother.
