About The Work
Operative Disturbances is a series of landscapes in which New York City shimmers unresolved at the edge of dissolution. The photographs are shot from elevated vantage points with an obsolete analog still-video camera that generates low-resolution, low-fidelity images. Through playful analog processing generating glitched decay, the images’ immaterial electrical forms accrue unforeseeable, improbable information with which the images are transformed. The City lays ghost-like beneath layered neoretro futuristic possibility, at once a glowing wonderland and a noise strewn ruin.
