This unique wallpaper design, Ume, from Japanese architect Toyo Ito is part of a collaboration with Maharam Digital Projects—an assemblage of large-scale wall installations created by emerging and established artists and designers. For Ume, Ito looked to the natural yet complex branching system of the Japanese plum tree—the intertwining branches form a canopy under a clear blue sky. This work belongs to the Maharam Serpentine Galleries Wallpaper collection, created by esteemed artists and architects under the curatorial direction of Julia Peyton-Jones and Hans Ulrich Obrist of the Serpentine Galleries in London.
