    About The Work

    This vibrant work by artist Kenny Scharf borrows from animation and reflects the artist's childhood fascination with cartoons, such as the Jetsons and the Flintstones. Scharf's application of paint also mimics the shading, reflective surfaces, and texture of a page from a comic book. Works like these are often characterized as "Pop-surrealism" due to their bright coloration, glossy forms, and disjointed subject matter. Sharf's work is also associated with the Lowbrow art movement of 1970's Los Angeles with its appropriation of popular imagery.
