Peter Liversidge takes conceptualist art near its extremity with his 2013 paper and silver leaf edition, Proposal for Whitechapel Gallery Edition, as the artist’s intent and the work itself are indistinguishable. The work presents a pair of papers: the left one a project proposal to Whitechapel Gallery by Liversidge wherein the artist has declared his intent to photocopy theselfsame memo and have it gilded with oxidizing silver. On the right is the proposal’s fulfilled doppelganger, its text made invisible by the metallic Chine-collé.
