About The Work
From the late 1960’s to the 1980’s, Daum Crystal in France commissioned well-known artists, sculptors and designers to create editioned glass sculptures. The innovative glassmaking company, influential during the rise of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements, collaborated with a number of artists using their pâte de verre method, a process in which in which crushed glass is packed into a mould and then fused together in a kiln. In this sculpture, Nouveau Réalisme artist Arman fuses contemporary lines with classical form.
