Commercial objects take on a life of their own in B. Wurtz's work, assemblages made of found objects that come to resemble forms other than their own.  In the world of Wurtz, a folded paper bag can become a human torso, for example.  Wurtz examines the intersection between expensive materials and the experience of art, and between materialism and natural forms, in his sculptures that revive Dadaist and Fluxus styles.  In 2011, Wurtz had an important retrospective at Metro Pictures that spanned 31 years-worth of work.
