About The Work

Groundbreaking artist El Anatsui created Variation I_C as a part of a series with the Benefit Print Project—combining analog art forms and advanced digital processes that push upon new technologies. The first of its kind to be created by the artist, the piece has multiple orientations, evoking the celebrated works of his that are made from liquor-bottle caps. The print, which features the muted golds, reds, greens and blues of Anatsui’s blanket-like bottle cap sculptures, explores his ongoing interest in making works of art that examine the beauty in variation, detritus and environment.
