About The Work
Like much of Inka Essenhigh’s work, the everyday world is morphed into stunning scenes of dark fantasy in this etching titled War. Known for her stylishly twisted aesthetic and almost sculptural drawing technique, Essenhigh transforms her subjects with a visual energy elevated by the color, movement and detail in her work. In War, rows of soldiers are enveloped by the ground beneath them in a surreal visual landscape.
