    About The Work

Set against a gray wall that has been peeled, scuffed, and scraped, a pink heart emerges beneath layers of paint. The clichéd image of the heart is a frequent motif used by Gilmore, whose work often juxtaposes cultural ideals and images of femininity with themes of physical struggle, human endurance, destruction, and decay.
