About The Work
In the early Nineties, as a young mother, Michelle Grabner explored backdrops inspired by her home and family environment focusing on domestic abstraction and repetition. In these early paintings she depicted recognizable patterns including crochet and gingham–both of which have a vernacular quality, but at the same time are abstract. For this print, the artist returns to her early motif.
