About The Work

In this piece from Jamaican artist Nari Ward, he uses the motif of a game of “hangman,” to address issues surrounding race, poverty and liberty. Using a glass-matrix printmaking technique known as Vitreography, Ward positions various letters of the word “freedom” beneath a gallows made up of activist imagery.
