Group Portrait, 2011 - Donald Baechler
About the Work
About Group Portrait
In this photograph, Baechler utilizes new media, a Polaroid application on an iPhone, to create pieces that reflect his signature affinity for adopting childhood objects—in this case plastic dolls—to create work that is both technically brilliant and uncannily familiar.
About the Artist
About Donald Baechler
Baechler was first represented by Tony Shafrazi, a New York art dealer who became famous for discovering Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Kenny Scharf in the 1980s. Considered to be one of the most influential artists to emerge from Shafrazi's stable, Baechler is the subject of numerous reviews, solo exhibitions, and critical essays, and has had his work collected by important figures in the art world, such as Eli Broad and Peter Brant.Read Less
