    About The Work

Thursday Miles is part of a series of three 43" x 28" screenprints inspired by the recordings of four consecutive performances by Miles Davis at the legendary Fillmore East in 1970. Set against an abstract expressionistic background, the black records in this work are connected by a web of orange lines that form an ordered, geometric pattern. In the composition, Martin transforms the musical records into nodes in a computer-generated system, or cogs in a mechanical void.
