The Great Vitamin P3 Painting Hunt

The Great Vitamin P3 Painting Hunt
Avery Singer, Untitled, 2015 (installation view)

Since its debut in 2002, Phaidon’sVitamin P series has served as a guiding light for anyone looking to discover the most exciting painters of the day. Compiled by an international pool of curators, critics, collectors, and museum directors and featuring a bevy of emerging or otherwise under-appreciated painters working across a variety of styles and disciplines, the books serve as a veritable who’s-who of contemporary painting, with good reason: many of the artists featured in the first two editions—including Peter Doig, Marlene Dumas, Mickalene Thomas, Tauba Auerbach, and many more—have gone on to achieve remarkable success and recognition.

Phaidon is at it again in the latest addition to the series, Vitamin P3, which highlights 108 painters from around the world that you need to know (and collect) now. We want to encourage everyone to learn about these important artists for themselves; to help, we’ve organized a little contest. The rules are simple: to start, review the list of the 108 Vitamin P3 painters below. Next, keep a sharp eye out for works by these artists as you scour the Miami Art Fairs, especially Art Basel and NADA. When you find one of their paintings, post a photo of the work in its booth to Instagram and tag @Artspace, @Phaidonsnaps, and the artist’s gallery to be entered into a drawing for a $500 gift certificate on Artspace. The more works you find, the more chances you have to win—plus, you’ll get a crash course in the medium’s newest directions in the process. After all, discovering fresh talent is always more fun if there’s a prize at the end. Happy hunting!
