About The Work

In Leila Pazooki's 'Moment of Glory,' the artist lampoons the media's conception of non-Western artists, by calling attention to descriptors that use American and European contemporary art stars to signify the importance of artists in China, Japan, India, Korea, South Africa, Brazil, Iran, Bali, and Cambodia. By using blaring neon to call out such Orientalism, Pazooki makes a playful invective against art jargon today.
