Retail Visionary Brian Bolke's Favorites From UNTITLED, ART Miami Beach 2019

Entrepreneur and retail visionary Brian Bolke has a knack for trendsetting. He co-founded the Dallas-based luxury fashion retailer Forty Five Ten, which has gone on to enjoy international acclaim and multiple national locations. And more recently, Bolke launched what is shaping up to be an even more trendsetting endeavor: The Conservatory, a concept store in Chelsea's Hudson Yards that allows shoppers to try on clothes and test products before ordering them online (the store also holds inventory on site). Always at the cusp of the next big thing, Bolke set his sights on Artspace's preview for the upcoming art fair UNTITLED, ART Miami Beach . Check out Bolke's favorite works from the preview, and if you'll be in Miami from December 4 - 8, be sure to stop by Artspace's booth at the fair to say hello!

I am a Mark Bradford “fanboy” and this one goes to the top of my list. I am still moved by his Venice Biennale United States Pavillon in 2017. This feels connected to the introspective work he did there, a navigation on an outsider—a gay black man—living in America.

These extraordinary sculptures by this Colombian artist are haunting in simplicity. Her work involves peeling back multiple layers, but these have an extraordinary simplicity.

I am a huge fan of Judy Chicago, and an artist who’s time has truly come. This portrait says it all... truly “on fire” at eighty....

I discovered Marti Cormand’s work at the recent Dallas event, Two by Two for AIDS and Art, and was mesmerized by these miniature oil paintings on Polaroids from childhood, recollections of a past, through a filter of the present.

Nic is from Dallas, and arguably the city’s most important talent. We have had the pleasure of working together in the past, and to I have finally recently been able to purchase a recent work. He took a “sabbatical” in Santa Fe for many years, and I am so please to have him back.

I love color, and artists like Boo that truly make you “feel“ it. This may be my favorite work of hers to date. And the title is everything... this feels like love.

Emmanuel recently had a solo show in Dallas at 214, and his works challenge our idea of the digital age, and its influence on our daily lives.
