About The Work
This print was created by Shepard Fairey as part of a large-scale collaboration with English artist and anarchist Jamie Reid as part of Reid’s “Ragged Kingdom” exhibition at Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles, California. The silkscreen work was inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement and continues Fairey’s interest in cultural and political criticism through Constructivist aesthetics. The slogan, designed to evoke a print advertisement, reads Shoplifters Welcome, and represents the struggle between working-class activists and the so-called 1% of society.
