About The Work
In the 1960s, artist Richard Artschwager wrote, “Sculpture is for the touch, painting is for the eye. I wanted to make a sculpture for the eye and a painting for the touch.” This Formica and wood piece Mirror (cat. rais. #14) is in line with that original impulse—the tangible enamel playing with the concept of two and three-dimensionality, through intricately rendered details and juxtaposition against the installation wall.
