About The Work
Perhaps the greatest modern purveyor of art-based iconography, the highly-stylized silkscreen images of Andy Warhol have become internationally recognized for their graphic charm, vibrant color and cultural reference. A fresh, Pop twist on the art-historical tradition of still life and portrait painting, these images evince Warhol’s deliberate use of shadow and negative as a central compositional element. In this limited edition collaboration between Tim Bessell and the Warhol Foundation, Brillo Box, one of the most iconic of Warhol’s prints, is re-imagined in bold red and blue on one of Bessell’s custom, hand-shaped surfboards.
